Michaela Muniz

Michaela Muniz is an accomplished professional with a career spanning over thirty years in the ever-evolving medical and dental provider network marketplace. Currently, she holds the position of Vice President of Payer Relations at Specialty1 Partners, which she assumed after leaving her previous position at Dental Care Alliance (DCA).

In her current role at Specialty1 Partners, Michaela fosters strategic relationships with insurance plan partners, instrumental in enhancing plan participation and revenue. She also leads the payor relations and credentialing departments, overseeing initiatives to streamline and improve interactions with insurance providers and ensuring that all credentialing processes are efficient and compliant.

Before joining Specialty1Partners, Michaela served as the Senior Director of Insurance Plan Management at Dental Care Alliance (DCA) from September 2017. At DCA, she played a crucial role in enhancing the company's plan participation and revenue by managing strategic relationships with insurance partners. She also led the credentialing department and oversaw a dedicated team responsible for delegated credentialing.

Before her tenure at DCA,Michaela served as the Vice President of Provider and network Management at Argus Dental & Vision, where her expertise in provider networks was put to excellent use. Before that, she was the National Director of provider Networks at Ameritas Group Dental.

In addition to her career achievements, Michaela actively contributes to the industry. She chairs the DSOAdvisory Council, has served on the NADP Operations Workgroup since 2012, and played an active role in the Delegated Credentialing and Network Leasing SubWorkgroup within the NADP.

Michaela is a proud graduate ofthe University of Florida.

April Thacker, MBA

Director of Payer Relations

Absolute Dental & Orthodontics

Absolute Dental is the largest single-brand Dental Service Organization (DSO) in Nevada. April oversees several departments, including credentialing, delegation, payer relationship management, reimbursement maximization, and system integrity. She began her dental career with Absolute nearly eight years ago.

Prior to joining Absolute, April accumulated over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field, serving in various roles such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Massage Therapist, and multiple positions in Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) at a hospital where she worked for 13 years.

April holds a Master of Science in Management and Leadership (MSML) and an MBA from Western Governors University (WGU) Nevada. Currently residing in Washington State near her family, she regularly travels to Nevada to support her team.

Roma Virani, BDS, MBA

Vice President, Payer Relations & Credentialing

Great Expressions Dental Centers

Roma leads all aspects of the payer contracting strategy at Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC), including managing and expanding contracted relationships, maximizing reimbursement from payers, credentialing, insurance operations, and designing and propagating the GEDC quality story. Roma has 20+ years of experience in the dental industry focusing on dental insurance strategy, payer relations, dental benefits, networks and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM).

Previously Roma was the Director of Dental Insurance Strategy and Claim Adjudication Management at the NYU College of Dentistry where she also taught dental and hygiene students a course in practice management. Roma also worked in the payer and dental industry as Executive VP of Dental at Stratose, Inc., (now owned by Zelis Healthcare), and as President of Assurant Employee Benefits’ PPO network (now owned by SunLife), Dental Health Alliance.

Roma received a BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) degree from the University of Mumbai and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. 

Roma lives with her family in New York
